I became an atheist around December 09, previously a catholic, altar girl and an actual believer of God. It was a documentary that converted me, nothing that had anything to do with atheism, more so evolution. (the documentary is here). I am very grateful to Richard Dawkins and also the person who got me to reason with myself.
My mother wasn't too happy with my decision. My family and most of the people around me are catholic; not devout but enough so for them to dislike what I am. Every now and again my mum makes a facebook status that's blatantly aimed at me but luckily enough I haven't been outcast (just yet).
My hatred for religion has grown so strong over the past couple of months, it's hard to control around my mum and siblings. I was asking my sister why she believed and her response was "I believe because I want to meet my loved ones in heaven." This is not a good enough excuse to believe in a religion that is brainwashing and taking advantage of millions of people. Molestation of young children? Isn't that enough.
SO this is just me saying fuck religion, there is no afterlife. Live your life NOW and stop waiting for a piece of paradise that will never be yours. Your loved ones are not waiting for you up there, deal with it.
